Friday Favorites #1: Week of 8/4 | Blushing Geek

Friday Favorites #3: Favorite Book Covers Part 1 (English Books Edition)

For this week’s Friday Favorites, I decided to tweak it a little. Instead of listing all of my favorites each week, I decided to improvise and share some of my favorites in different categories. I will still be using the original format of this themed post but since I don’t have that much favorites this week, let me share with you some of my favorite book covers instead. Btw, for this list, I only included those books that I have read.

I actually have a lot in my list right now but I don’t want this to be an overwhelmingly long post, so for now, I’m going to share with you my latest 10 favorites. Don’t worry, the remaining books will be posted in my future articles *wink.

Let’s start, shall we? (Orders don’t vary)

“The cover has a YA vibe which I think was the reason why it caught my attention (I’m a YA freak). The picture of the model is exactly what the main character looks like so I think that was great. The abundant of color green makes it very cool to the eye too and the text is so easy to read excluding the one at the top. There’s nothing really special about the cover but I just simply like it.”

“For a paranormal romance, the cover looks really girly because of the color and it just so happens that I love pink haha. I also love that it uses drawn characters rather than using a picture of a model or something like that. Every pictures added in the cover are related to the story thus  giving it’s reader an idea what to expect in this story.”

I am just a simple girl who loves to combine my two favorite things in the world - books and travel. I enjoy discovering new places, either real or fantasy, and share them through my blog. Other than that, I'm a Filipina, photo junkie, Otaku, 100% geek, a lover of all things cute, movie/tv buff, in my 20s and a proud book hoarder.

    • These covers are great! I always seem to love HR books with pretty dresses. A flash of color always catchs my eye as well.

      • Most HR books that I came across to have some pretty dresses, which makes me wanna read them all fast. As a visual person, colors always got it first for me hehe

    • I’ve been meaning to try a few of these for quite a while now, perhaps I should start with one. Or two. Ok, maybe three ASAP! 😛 K.A. Tucker is at the top of my list, though, and I really like that cover!

      • Hehe, three books added to your TBR will not going to hurt that much I guess. And that one from K.A. Tucker is highly recommended Silvia. It was really really good.

        • Five Ways to Fall it is, then. I always heard LOTS of amazing things about her books after all 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion!

          • Yay. I’m glad I was able to convince you Silvia. I hope you’ll like it 🙂

    • Nice list! I like the style for The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride by Kristen Painter, almost a bit of a cozy vibe. Quite Contrary is well done, but it’s also a bit creepy. The historical romance covers often look so pretty with those pretty dresses.

      • Thanks Lola. And yes, HR often looks pretty and somewhat enchanting with the pretty dresses 🙂

    • All these covers look awesome.

    • Great cover picks. My favorites are the covers that connect strongly to the story inside and give the reader a picture of what to expect.

    • Awesome covers, Vanessa!
I’m particularly intrigued by Jenny Han’s books, The title for book #1 makes me really curios, so I’ll probably check her series out. Thanks!

      • If you love YA, then I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it Fran 🙂

    • Karen

I read Modern Love and thought it was okay. Cute but I wasn’t blown away. I did love The Deal and I’ve been wanting to read Oram’s book for awhile now.

Hope you’re having a nice weekend!

      For What It’s Worth

      • Ohhh, if you enjoy YA Karen, then you’ll love her stories I’m sure 🙂

    • You picked some great covers. I confess I am a cover whore and look first, then read synopsis.

      • Same here. I’m a visual person so I always look at the cover first too 🙂

    • Hehe, I’m glad 🙂

    • Yep, the off-campus series doesn’t just have amazing covers but stories as well 🙂

    • I love those Jenny Han covers too, they’re so lovely and look like Instagram photo shoots. That KA Tucker one is beautiful, I love the greenery but she seems a little too big compared to the back ground. For me, I love watercolour covers or covers with marker type fonts for some reason. Like the Jenny Han ones. Beautiful choices Vanessa, going to check some of these out <3

      • True about the covers from Jenny Han. I hope you’ll find some that you will enjoy in my list 🙂

    • Love Elle Kennedy 🙂 The McNaught one is beautiful.

      • Yes, and other cover of the remaining books in the series are as beautiful too 🙂
