It is normal to get attracted to a “player”, but to fall in love? Nah! I think that’s worse than committing a suicide. How about falling in love to a woman who has a 4 year old son and a jerk ex who happens to be the father of her son? It’s so hard to be involved on that situation eh?

Love itself is the most complicated thing to understand. It creates its own little way to let two people fall in love in a situation you never think they’ll be in.

Nate Peters is living the playboy life. He has great friends, a great job, no responsibilities, no girlfriend, and he loves it. Nate, being incredibly skilled with a pick-up line, has never failed to get a girl in his life… until one day he meets Rosie York. Rosie is completely uninterested in him. Being unable to stand a dented ego, Nate makes it his mission to win her over. Not used to putting in much effort, Nate is surprisingly enjoying the chase of this off-limits little brunette. Maybe he has finally met his match… But Rosie has a few surprises of her own which will make it remarkably more difficult for him to get close to her.

Reaction (book)
This is the book 2 of the Guarded Hearts Series but you can still read it stand-alone. Remember my book boyfriend “Ashton Taylor”, the sexy bad-ass SWAT guy from Nothing Left To Lose? Nate Peters is also a sexy playboy bad-ass SWAT guy like his bestfriend Ashton.

Damn! This book is so cheesy, but I liked it. Those pick-up lines from Nate never fails to make me laugh. One of the lamest and funniest of Nate’s pick-up lines would be: “I didn’t catch your name; wait let me guess it..I bet it’s Candy; because damn you look good enough to eat”. Hahaha, sorry, I really can’t contain my laugh with that. And if you choose to read the book, you need to prepare yourself for it contains a lot of these cheesy and well, lame pick-up lines. I can’t even imagine that a “player” uses those lines in real life.

Nate and Rosie are cute together. I like Nate’s transformation during the process of making Rosie fall in love with him. I think they are true about a playboy changing because of love. He’s changed but the funny and flirty Nate Peters is still there. I don’t like Nate being the player but I love how he delivers his pick-up lines. He’s really funny! I can’t add him in my book boyfriends but I can add him in my most unforgettable characters list. I bet having him as a big brother would be great. A player yet a very protective brother! I love that! And not to mention, I almost shed a tear when Rosie defended Nate to his father. That was really so touching.

My favourite couple which is Anna and Ashton are back and it is lovely to see them living their own lives. Nate’s family is so cool and his mom is so funny. I like how it’s been very easy for a single mom like Rosie to be accepted by Nate’s family which is somewhat difficult in a real life situation.

I really like how the story ended. We were given a glimpse on what happened to them after almost 15 years of marriage and about the love story of their son with Ashton and Anna’s daughter. Hahaha, that was so funny! I love the story more because of that!

Reaction (Author & Plot)
Kirsty Moseley has created another cheesy yet very good romance story. Just like her recent book, “Nothing Left to Lose”, it never failed on making me laugh and enjoy the story. I also like how she used a very easy to understand English terms, so to those non-English native, no need to be afraid on reading this story.

The plot is quite cliche but is very interesting. Not the typical love story that I have read so far, and this story is very fresh to me.  I can’t really say any negative things about the story aside from the fact that I am expecting some suspense part, you know the part wherein the heroine got kidnap and the hero will rescue her? But it’s different from Ashton and Anna’s story so I should never have think about that. But you can’t really blame me for expecting some suspense and action part, for hello!? Nate is a, not to mention, hot SWAT guy.

Final Thoughts
NLTL is still my favorite but this one is my second favorite! I really love the story. I can’t count how many times I laugh my heart out while reading this.

This is not your typical playboy who fell in love romance story. It’s filled with love and also lots of laugh. So if you are looking for a great romance story with a kick, this book is then a great choice!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
